President donald trump says he will nominate his pick to replace late supreme court justice ruth bader ginsburg -- by the end of the week.

éé and the topic of replacing her is adding fuel to the fire of an already heated election season.éé courtney ann jackson has some reaction and possible impact.éé no doubt you've seen the tributes to justice ruth bader ginsburg that have poured in since friday.

But millsaps professor dr. nathan shrader notes... "i'm saddened by how quickly we all, and this is all sides, have quickly moved into combat mode instead of mourning an individual."

But with an already supercharged election season---the news has accelerated the political discussions.

Shrader points out that the topic of federal courts has been a core message of republican in this election.

While, it's not been a focus of democratic campaigns.

Because of that--he says democrats seem to be using it as a rally cry.

"the issue of the courts..the federal court and the supreme court.

I think that's the issue that could effect those voters who may lean towards one candidate or party or other that have just not been that enthused so far...this could be the tipping point for them.

And there's not that many of them."

Democratic candidate mike espy has seen a surge in volunteers coming forward and a bump to their campaign bank account.

"since friday night, we received over 700,000 dollars in donations from mississippians and across the nation.

And these donations are from 30,000 individual donors.these are people who are now concerned about the future of the supreme court."

Incumbent senator cindy hyde-smith supporting quick confirmation of the president's nominee.

"i think it will have an impact in some areas more than others.

In mississippi, i think the people of mississippi want to see another supreme court justice confirmed.

I've talked to several individuals.

I've gotten several calls today saying cindy, i hope you stand firm and ready to do that."

Cbs news has learned two of the top contenders are currently u-s court of appeals judges& demonstrators are targeting top senate republicans after they said they would move swiftly on the president's pick... majority leader "we're gonna vote on this nomination on this floor."

So far, at least two republican senators -- susan collins and lisa murkowski -- have come out against voting on a nominee-- ...with just six weeks left to election day.

"senate democrats say they're pushing more of their republican colleagues to oppose rushing through a supreme court vote."

Minoirty leader "there's only one way for us to have some hope of coming together again.

// and that is for four brave senate republicans to commit to rejecting any nominee until the next president is installed."

The showdown over the seat has also energized both sides in the 2020 presidential race.

President trump hits the campaign trail in ohio monday... "the supreme court is the most important thing right now."

While democratic presidential candidate joe biden campaigns in wisconsin.

2020 presidential candidate/ sunday "if i win this election, president trump's nomination should be withdrawn."

éé the report from the state department of health shows 192 new positive cases.éé mississippi has reported more than 93-thousand cases of covid-19 and more than 28- hundred deaths.éé intro students in the aberdeen school district are back in class, either through distance learning or in an on-campus hybrid model.

éé as allie martin explains how students get the same lesson, by the same teacher, at the same time.éé as stephanie deavens teaches african-american history to students in her classroom, others are following along through zoom from their home and also from the junior rotc classroom downstairs.

Nats students have the option of distance or hybrid learning.

Different methods of instruction are part of a long list of new policies and procedures in place because of covid-19.

"we have an a day and a b day.

A day is monday and wednesday, we have ninth and tenth graders, b day is tuesday and thursday we have eleventh and twelfth graders."

That means there are only about 100 to 125 students on campus each day.

Those students stay in their homeroom the entire day, watching each class on zoom.

They take notes and can ask questions.

Distance learners have the same system, called "campus knot" but they use their own devices.

"it's kind of like having a house, campus knot is the house, and all of the resources and tools in campus knot, it's like we have all of our furniture and all of our equipment and tvs and appliances in our home, that's how i express to parents to make a comparison."

Students get their temperatures checked daily, social distancing and masks are mandated on campus.

Lunches are delivered to each homeroom to make sure there are no large groups of students in the hallways.

Teachteachers and students say adapting to the new policies have been a big learning curve, but everyone is adjusting.

"i know it's tough because some parents aren't as familiar with technology as others, but they've been asking great questions and making this a wonderful experience for us" "we could focus on just negative aspects of anything and everything, but i think there will be positive lessons that we will be able to use to help make the way we deliver content to our students that much more effective."

"with the pandemic, as far as school goes, the learning has gotten more complicated and we have to lean more towards technology, than we used to, like book work, it's stressful sometimes, but in the end it will all pay off."

Schools throughout the district are using the same teaching methods, overcoming the same challenges and obstacles while providing a safe learning environment.

In aberdeen, allie martin, wcbi news students in aberdeen do not go to school on friday.

Schools are deep cleaned, and teachers take part in professional development activities.
