Seven passengers were injured after a high-speed van crashed into an electric pole while driving back from a wedding.

The wedding guests were travelling home when their van hit a pole in Krabi province, southern Thailand on August 27.

Prasit Landen, 53, said he was driving from a relative's wedding with his family when he lost control of the brakes.

He was slightly injured on his chest.

He said: "I was heading back home from my relative's wedding.

I cannot control the van to stop so I skidded on the verge and hit the pole." The security camera shows the moment the vehicle wobbled then hit the post on the roadside before stopping.

Police Colonel Wichyasan Boonnarong, superintendent from Sai Khao police station, said the investigation team did not find skid marks on the road to indicate that the driver had tried to hit the brakes.

He said: "There was no tire prints left and there was no u-turn point nearby.

We are investigating the idea that the driver might have only dozed off while driving." Onlookers went to the van to rescue the passengers inside, including a two-year-old toddler before they were taken to a nearby hospital.

One passenger, who was later identified as Toy Sutork, 52, was seriously injured on the forehead.

More witnesses and incidences will be further questioned at the station while the injured passengers recover at the hospital.
