Flooding in Stonehaven near deadly incident where train derailed, killing three people and injuring six

Heavily rainfall and thunderstorms bring flooding and landslips across Scotland.

Footage recorded in Stonehaven, just five miles from the major incident where a passenger train derailed, on Wednesday (August 12) shows overflowing water and damage to the River Carron's flood defences.

The filmer, @maihrtin, told Newsflare: "The video vantage point is normally a road which runs parallel to the River Cowie in Mineral Well Park.

Rain running off from the higher ground of the park created a fast-flowing flash flood flowing into the river at a 45-degree angle." Three people have died, and six others have been taken to hospital after a train derailed in Aberdeenshire, near Stonehaven at about 09:40 on Wednesday morning.
