Flash flooding cancels nearly 200 train services in Scotland

Heavily rainfall across Scotland has cancelled nearly 200 train services due to flooding and landslips on the line.

Footage from Wednesday (August 12) shows flooded train tracks between Hartwood Train Station in Lanarkshire, on the Shotts Line between Glasgow Central and Edinburgh Waverley.

Loraine Duncan, the filmer, told Newsflare: "Last night we experienced monsoon-like weather with over six hours of thunder and lightning and around two-three hours of rain.

"The noise was like a train coming down the track as you approached and was fast flowing, where it was existing over the wall and down the fields." A major incident has been declared near Stonehaven after a passenger train derailed at about 09:40 on Wednesday morning.
