Israel closes border crossing after Palestinians fire incendiary balloons

Palestinians fired incendiary balloons towards Israeli settlements, prompting Israeli authorities to close one of its main border crossings with the Gaza Strip.

Footage filmed on August 10, shows masked men preparing the balloons with flammable objects attached to them and releasing them.

According to local media, the balloons caused 30 fires around border communities.

Israel's Defence Ministry released a statement in response to the balloons: "Kerem Shalom Crossing will be closed for the passage of all goods, with the exception of the entry of essential humanitarian equipment and fuel." One of the Palestinians, Abu-Malik, said: "Our demands, as the Palestinian people, that the siege on the Gaza Strip be broken, that the crossings be opened all the time, that travel is allowed for anyone, the sea is opened, income and work in Gaza, projects, infrastructure, and jobs for the youth."
