Disney has no idea what it's doing with 'Mulan' on Disney+

Disney recently announced that its highly anticipated live-action Mulan remake will be skipping a theatrical release, and instead will launch onDisney+... for an additional $30.

This is a little odd, until now we hadn't heard of any plans for premium cost content.

It seems like this is a purchase, not a rental, but for now Disney has implied if you stop subscribing to Disney+, you'll lose access to the film.

So not really a purchase.

Also, despite the plan being announced on an earnings call, we've seen no press release or advertising around the release, not even a Tweet.

Putting its new films on streaming doesn't seem like a bad idea in the current climate, and $30 is expensive, but not unreasonable for a new release (it's the cost of two tickets in most cities), but for now this plan seems a little confused, and we're hoping Disney doesn't botch it.
