Graduating high school is considered one of the biggest milestones in a child's life.

Proctor high school originally celebrated by playing a picture slideshow.

Parents of those graduates wanted to do more though.

News channel 2's brent kearney tells us how parents came together to put on a special ceremony.

Stacy moore organized the ceremony over social media.

She says herself and parents handed out over 600 invitations throughout utica.

"we got over 100 of them that are coming today to walk the stage it was open to the entire class."

Graduates and their family's signed up for time slots.

Once they arrived graduates stepped out of their cars, picked up a mask and walked the stage as family cheered and took pictures from the car.

I mean these kids have suffered so much since march being out of school they've went through so much, they deserve" "marcella seaton, graduate" "when i graduated, it felt like i graduated but not really.

It felt like it just ended without saying goodbye."

Parents grateful to the volunteers "i am a firm believer i'm just making the best of what you have to deal with.

Hopefully eventually things open up so we can have a big graduation party for him even if it's just february of 21.

We're going to have a big bash as soon as they tell us we can."
