On Wednesday, Democrats said they will hold an almost entirely virtual presidential nominating convention Aug. 17-20 in Milwaukee. Joe Biden plans to accept the presidential nomination in person. According to Business Insider it remains to be seen whether there will be a significant in-person audience there to see him accept the nomination. The Democratic National Committee said in a statement that official business will take place virtually. Delegates are being asked not to travel to Milwaukee.
For the first time in American history, a Black and South Asian woman has been chosen for national office by a major political party. CNN reports presumptive Democratic nominee former Vice President Joe Biden named Sen. Kamala Harris on Tuesday as his running mate. Harris follows Democrat Geraldine Ferraro and Republican Sarah Palin as only the third woman to be chosen as the running mate on a presidential ticket.
