Vandalised Black Lives Matter memorial rebuilt by NYC community

A Black Lives Matter memorial that had been built at Carl Schurz Park was vandalised and completely removed overnight.

Footage from July 8 shows the memorial in the Manhattan park as locals pay tribute.

The organizers received an email from a neighbour reportedly stating that their memorial is "an eyesore, has profanity everywhere and that the people who attend the vigil don't live in the neighborhood," said Patrick Bobilin.

In the morning, the community gathered to rebuild the memorial, and now neighbours say that the site is "more beautiful than ever."
