As lockdown restrictions ease across the US, cases of the novel coronavirus COVID-19 are skyrocketing.

However, CNN reports the surge in cases hasn't been accompanied by a surge in deaths.

Why?

One probable reason could be that it may be too soon into the new wave of the virus for its victims to actually pass.

Also, more young people could be infected this time around and they have a much lower risk of death.
