Shops sealed for disregarding social distancing guidelines after number of COVID-19 cases rises in southern India

With a surge in COVID-19 cases since the lockdown terminated, law enforcement officials in Bengaluru, southern India, have started shutting down shops that do not follow social distancing guidelines.

Footage filmed on June 28 shows police officers sealing shops on Neeladri Road.

Several shops have been shut, including McDonald’s franchises and convenience stores.

This step was taken after the city was praised for its minimal spread of infection during the two-month-long lockdown but has struggled to contain the virus since the country has partially reopened.
