This was the sweet moment a rescue dog from Cyprus met his new mum for the first time.

This was the sweet moment a rescue dog from Cyprus met his new mum for the first time.

The clip, filmed on June 3 at London Heathrow, shows the moment Bagel, the Kokoni/Spaniel cross, met his new owner after being rescued through the shelter PAWS.

Kate Taylor, who adopted Bagel told Newsflare: "animal cruelty and neglect is a huge problem in Cyprus, by people of all nationalities.

People dump dogs (very often unneutered) out on busy roads, in bins or down wells.

"Bagel was one of the luckier ones.

He was found dumped in the car park of PAWS which is close to the airport in the early hours of the morning just before Cyprus went into lockdown.

"He had a lead and harness on so it is suspected that he was abandoned by his owners on their way to the airport to catch one of the last flights leaving the island.

"I just so happened to message the shelter about rehoming a dog only a few days after he came in and following a couple of video calls with him and the wonderful shelter managers and volunteers it was deemed to be a perfect match and I reserved him.

"I've been eagerly awaiting flights to start up again so we could be united.

Wednesday 3rd June 2020 was finally that day and he gave me the most heartwarming and emotional greeting!" she continued.
