VARIOUS OF HEALTH OFFICIALS LECTURING THE CRICKETERS OF PRECAUTIONS TO TAKE AGAIN THE SPREAD OF THE CORONAVIRUS STORY: The Sri Lankan men's national cricket team returned to training on Tuesday (June 2) after a nine week break due to the coronavirus lockdown.

The training at a cricket ground in the capital Colombo took place under strict regulations laid down by the health authorities.

Accordingly, the selected squad of 13 members will undergo a 12 day 'Residential Training Camp', whilst they are staying as a group in a hotel during the entirety of the camp.

The players taking part in the camp represents a general squad chosen from across all three formats, test, limited over, and T20.

Led by coach Mickey Arthur the players taking part are primarily bowlers, as they need more time for conditioning before going into active competition.

Cricket came to a halt on March 13 when the visiting England team pulled out on the second day of a four-day practice match ahead of their two-Test series.

The Test series against England was put off indefinitely after the pandemic halted major sporting events worldwide.

Sri Lanka's next international engagement is the Indian tour of the island in June-July 2020 for three one day internationals and three T20 matches.

A decision on whether to go ahead with the tour is pending.
