Couple attach food to 'mobile pantry' car to give to locals struggling during Covid-19 pandemic

A couple attached packs of food onto their car to make a mobile pantry for the locals struggling with the coronavirus downturn Mechanic Thawan Tomkham and his wife Benjamas Sriratchawang said they were inspired by the community pantries springing up around Thailand amid the Covid-19 hardship.

Thawan said he believes that there still people in rural areas that also need food donations during the difficult period but they have no access to the pantries.

The kind couple decided to make a mobile pantry to bring the goods to struggling residents in Ubon Ratchathani province.

Footage shows the couple taping food on their car before driving out to the rural areas.

The husband said: "We have not planned how long we will keep doing this, but initially we wanted to do it until our budget runs out.

"However, if the people are willing to donate food we are also happy to take the trip to hand out the items.''
