A man raised money for a good cause by running the length of a marathon - around a ROUNDABOUT outside his flat.Pieter Gray undertook the strange mission in the early hours of Sunday morning and ended up running about 1000 laps. A video shows a time lapse of some of Pieter's opening laps as the sun rises over his neighbourhood in Wanstead, East London. The environmental health practitioner, 39, is raising money for mental health charity Mind.His wife Sonja convinced him running the full 26 miles in this quirky way would help those in need. Pieter explained his thought process as to why he chose the obstacle just outside his home. He said: "A friend said we can now run anywhere so why did I choose our boring roundabout - I guess I'm a boring person!"The film is right at the beginning of the run so felt pretty fresh - I think some benny hill music would have been quite apt."It wasn't too arduous.

The only difficulty was keeping a consistent pace because you are not really running in a straight line at all!

And remembering to change direction."Mind is a worthwhile charity and any challenge, big or small can be fun and rewarding, even just running round a roundabout.Those wishing to donate to Pieter's fundraising challenge can find it on the Just Giving website.
