This emotional compilation shows the journeys of four dogs at Greenville Pet Rescue in South Carolina.

Meet Milly, who was found in the middle of the night after being hit by a car, Charles, the tiny puppy found in a storm drain and Mahaffey, the scared Pyrenean Mountain dog working to build trust.

Footage also shows the remarkable transformation of Bamford, who lost 3 lbs with a life-saving hair cut.

The organisation has even found fame on TikTok (@petrescuegreenville), where they boast over 48,000 followers and many viral clips.

Rescue coordinator for Greenville Pet Rescue told Newsflare: "I guess you could say, I started doing this to get awareness out in the community, that animals are mistreated by accident, on purpose, people genuinely don’t have knowledge about animal welfare, etc.

"I saw TikTok as a platform to reach the younger generation and also to show that animal shelters are doing everything they can to get these animals back healthy and adoptable, and if we can’t do it we reach out to rescues that can.

"People should definitely look for pets in shelters before buying from a breeder.

Animals across the nation are homeless and institutionalised in shelters and they need to be in homes, not cages."
