US Investigates Possibility That COVID-19 Originated in a Chinese Lab According to CNN, the U.S. government is looking into whether the coronavirus started in a Chinese laboratory instead of a market.

The speculation is that the virus originated in a laboratory in Wuhan, China, and was accidentally released to the public.

U.S. intelligence officials have not yet been able to prove the theory but are continuing the investigation, sources have told CNN.

Some intelligence officials say it is possible the actual origin of the virus may never be known.

Joint Chief of Staff Chairman Mark Milley acknowledged that the U.S. is taking "a hard look" at the coronavirus origin theory.

President Trump told reporters on Wednesday that the government is "doing a very thorough examination of this horrible situation that happened." Zhao Lijian, the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman, has continued to deny the lab theory, according to CNN.
