Wolverhampton MP opens up on mental health and alcoholism struggle

A new MP has revealed mental health struggles left him wishing his life was over - before he found "faith" following church visits.

Conservative Stuart Anderson said he lost hope and turned to alcohol as he experienced a difficult few years after he was shot and injured during an army training accident.

At one stage, MPs heard, he was in the process of trying to end his life but the thought of his children growing up without a father - something he had also experienced - stopped him.
