Fiat Chrysler's Jeep Grand Cherokee and Suzuki's Vitara diesel models both break emissions rules and must be fixed or face a ban on sales across Europe, the Dutch road authority ruled on Thursday.

Fiat Chrysler and Suzuki may have to put the brakes on European sales of two leading diesel models After being told they're currently breaking European Union emissions rules.
Fiat Chrysler's Jeep Grand Cherokee and Suzuki's Vitara must now be fixed if they don't want to face a sales ban.
That's according to a ruling on Thursday (January 23) by the Dutch road authority, the RDW, acting on behalf of the EU.
Jeep, it says, has developed a software fix and is in the process of recalling its Grand Cherokee model across continent in order to roll it out.
No credible solution has yet been found for the Vitara And without one, it currently faces having its European approval revoked, the RDW said.
It has also started revoking approval for the Cherokee as a 'precautionary measure'.
Regulators across the world have been intensifying testing on diesel models, since Volkswagen admitted in 2015 that it used illegal software to cheat emissions tests.
In this case, both models are said to have used "prohibited emissions strategies" that led them to emit higher levels of harmful nitrogen oxide (NOx) on the road than when under test conditions.
