Thunberg: Pretty much nothing has been done to reduce CO2 emissions

Greta Thunberg, who has inspired a new generation of activists to attend the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos this year, urged world leaders on Tuesday to listen to young people.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) CLIMATE ACTIVIST, GRETA THUNBERG, SAYING: "Pretty much nothing has been done since the global emissions of CO2 has not reduced.

And that is, of course, what we are trying to achieve, among other things." Swedish activist Greta Thunberg urged the media and world leaders to listen to her message on climate change.... as she appeared on a panel at the World Economic Forum in Davos, where U.S. President Donald Trump is the headline speaker.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) CLIMATE ACTIVIST, GRETA THUNBERG, SAYING: "If we are to have a 6 to 7% chance of limiting the global average temperature rise to below one point five degrees Celsius, we had on January 1st, 2018, about 420 gigatons of CO2 left to emit in that budget." I've been repeating these numbers over and over again in almost every speech.

But honestly, I don't think I have once seen any media outlets or person in power communicate this and what it means.

I know you don't want to report about this.

I know you don't want to talk about this, but I assure you I will continue to repeat these numbers until you do." Young activists have travelled to the Swiss ski resort, following in Thunberg's footsteps - as a new generation put world leaders in their sights.
