OLYMPIC FLAME AMONGST CROWD STORY: The Olympic flame began its journey towards Lausanne, Switzerland on Sunday (January 5) when it was carried briefly into France and crossed back over the Swiss border ahead of the upcoming Winter Youth Olympic Games.
Former French Olympian, Thierry Rey, took hold of the flame in Bois-d'Amont, France and set alight a cauldron, before it was carried back into Switzerland.
Upon arrival in Switzerland, more ex-Olympians Vincent Defrasne and Vincent Gauthier Manuel also acted as bearers of the flame until it settled in the picturesque setting of Le Sentier.
The flame is due to arrive in Lausanne on Monday (January 6) ahead of the opening ceremony for the games on Thursday (January 9).
