North Korea's Kim supervises drills: state media

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un supervised air drills for the second time in three days, according to state media on Monday (November 18).

The news comes after the U.S. and South Korea decided to postpone joint military drills on Sunday (November 17), in a bid to bolster stalled denuclearisation talks with Pyongyang.

State news agency KCNA reported on Monday that Kim was present during the drills and that he expressed his desire to 'improve the preparedness' of North Korea's units.

However, it did not mention the U.S. or South Korea in its report.

State media also released a similar story on Saturday (November 16), saying that Kim watched a 'flight combat contest'.

Reuters is unable to verify if Kim oversaw the events or when the events took place.

Washington has denied the decision to postpone its joint drills with Seoul amounted to another concession to North Korea.

On Sunday, U.S. President Donald Trump took to Twitter to tell Kim, "You should act quickly, get the deal done," and "see you soon".
