U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo urged Lebanon’s political leaders to form a new government.
According to Reuters, he wants them to form one that is responsive to the needs of its people.
This comes after Saad al-Hariri resigned as prime minister and protests broke out against the ruling elite.
Pompeo said the peaceful demonstration in the past 13 days have sent a clear message.
He said they want “an efficient and effective government, economic reform and an end to endemic corruption.”
