Under the Lights Week 8, Pt 1

Welcome back to under the lights.

Brought to you by rush personnel.

I'm brandon benitez, and i'm vanessa romo.

Kicking this week off for our sierra central game of the week.

Corning vs why- reek-uh on homecoming night... cardinals coming off a 31-point loss to lassen but what a better way to get back on track... and it's the cardinals that get off to a great start.

Opening drive, tristen bailey gets a nice chunk play down the right.

After a little shake and bake he'll lower the shoulder for a first down... and corning feeds bailey again showing why this team averages 206 rushing yards a game.

The senior goes in for the score.

They'll miss the pat leading 6-0... the cardinal defense forces a punt but on a broken play, trey setzer scrambles and finds space.

He'll save the drive getting the first down in cardinal territory... and that scramble pays off a few plays later.

Setzer finds devin applewhite on a crosser just like that were tied after the miners fail going for two... but the cards continue their ground and pound in the second quarter.

Dalton mcfall will do everything but fall on this run before getting tackled out of bounds... then capping off the drive.

Nick brown rides the wave plunging in for a team-high sixth rushing touchdown.

He really knows how to pound the rock... corning dominates the rest of the way winning on homecoming night.

They win 55-14... the cards now move to five-and two on the season... they head to central valley next week.

From the coast to the valley--- eureka traveled to chico tonight... a non- conference game --- but chico high still looking to add to its win streak.... we start the action in the first quarter on eurekas first drive quarterback hayden bode takes the snap but oh chicos gustavo ramos is there -- bobbles it but comes down with the interception.

The loggers wouldnt be out done though.

The next drive chicos jake hammen takes the snap drops back and overthrows his reciever and gets picked off by josiah graham who takes it back up the left side and gets taken down.

Eureka would drive it all the way down to the goal line.

They go for it on fourth down but wow the play gets blown up by emilios reyes.

We move now to the second quarter hammen drops back and finds abe del real who snatches the pass and zooms up the middle and no one would catch him he takes it all the way for the score.

Later in the second quarter bode drops back again but this time gets picked off by willy baker who takes the pass and runs it all the way to the house for a pick 6... right before the half ends chicos hammen drops back and lofts it up for del real who rises up and makes the tough catch in the corner of the endzone wow what a snag i feel like well see this again later in the show.

Chico will go on to win... 35 to 0 in a shutout.

The panthers will improve to seven and 1).

They will return to conference play next week.

That's an away game against red bluff.

We now head to pleasant valley where the vikings hosted the enterprise hornets.

Vikings looking to bounce back after a heartbreaking loss last week to shasta... and it's the vikings that come out hot.

First quarter, junior rivera takes the rock and just goes with it.

Solid 20-yard gain there by the senior so how about again?

You betcha.

Rivera reaches in and breaks the plane it from a yard out putting p-v up 7-0... vikings don't stop there, pierce embury gets picked off by aidan wisdom.

Down the sideline, he'll return it 18- yards before finally going down... and on the very next play ian guanzon finds nathan paddock in the flat.

I love a good rac play and paddock delivers.

No one can bring him down and he'll score doubling the viking lead... and when you're feeling it in the air you put it in your q-b's hands.

Guanzon connects with reed murphy 30- yards for a t-d.

21-0 vikings... but why stop there.

Guanzon finds ryan dyrr on a shallow cross.

The senior does the rest himself.

I told you they were feeling it!

35-yard touchdown here... vikings right the ship this week winning 45-21... p-v, climbs back to 4-4.

They get a week of rest thanks to an upcoming bye next week.

Enterprise stays winless at 0-6 until maybe next week when they face foothill on the road... now let's dive right into my favorite part of the show--- sierra central's plays of the week.

We've got some great ones tonight... our first play will go to --- i told you you would see it again... it's jake hammen -- connecting with abe del real... for a tough corner of the end zone snag... and we love rivalries here, so my pick this week goes to ian guanzon who finds reed murphy deep for a 30-touchdown on their way to a solid win over enterprise... to vote--- head to our website right now--- action news now dot com under the under the lights tab... the winner will be announced on wednesday at 6.

Three games down... we still have a lot more to go... west valley took on anderson tonight... plus... orland, oroville, durham and more... stay with us... .... we'll let our band of the week take us out... shout out to red bluff high school
