New ‘SNL’ Cast Members Receive Mixed Reactions.

NBC’s ‘Saturday Night Live’ recently announced the addition of three new cast members to their popular late night show.

Comedians Chloe Fineman, Shane Gillis and Bowen Yang are slated to become feature players in the upcoming 45th season.

Yang, who has been a writer for the sketch show since September 2018, will be the show’s first Chinese-American regular.

His hiring has been praised as an important step forward, as there has only been a total of six Asian or Asian-American hosts in the history of the show.

On the other hand, Gillis has been at the center of controversy since the announcement of his hiring.

A 2018 clip currently circulating online features Gillis making racist comments against the Asian community as well as many other groups.

He has since issued an apology, saying he is a “comedian who pushes boundaries.” .

It is not yet known whether the unearthed comments will affect NBC’s hiring of Gillis.
