Cougs improve to 2-0 with blowout win over Northern Colorado

Last week anthony gordon introduced himself to the country leading washington state to a blowout win over new mexico state..what would he do encore against northern colorado... well, just like last week, he started very well...hits easop winston to get the scoring started..just like that's it's 7-0 cougs---but northern colorado hung around a lot longer than most thought..milo hall with 113 yards and this touchdown..we're tied at 7--- cougs right back to work..gordon to his roommate max borghi..thats good for six...cougs back up 7---and their defense started to stiffen...jahad woods with the strip...cougars recover the fumble...and they are in business.---gordon with lots of time..he finds brandon arconado...he had 127 yards..this down to the 2.--- borghi takes it from there..he had three touchdowns on the day..cougs only up 14 at the half---all cougs after recess...gordon with the nice fade to winston...and they cruise from gordon finishes with 464 yards and four scores...cougs win it 59-17, they are 2-0..our alyssa charslton has more with the cougs from pullman alyssa: everything pretty much goes according to plan in game two for the washington state cougars.

They don't really much trouble with the northern colorado bears.

If there were any surprises maybe it's not the bears get into the end zone twice but obviously playing some back ups tonight one thing that was consistent from week one to week to anthony gordon he was 31 of 39 tonight really good connections with his wide receivers, max borghi a great night as well getting into the end zone three times but really when you look at the receivers it's anthony gordon, easop winston jr. 6 passes to him he found the end zone twice as well.

This was a connection that started those two played together back in juco days in the bay area.

Anthony gordon "pretty much it's always a city situation with easop so we have good chemistry going back a few years ago so executing that, executing the plays out there today and giving the ball to easop along with our other receivers, put the ball in their hands, it's fun to watch them run."mike leach "i thought hit and miss, i thought we started the game pretty good then i thought we hit a lull in the first half, then i thought we came out good in the third quarter, towards the end of the third quarter we caught another little lull, and then in the fourth quarter we let a lot of guys play."lamonte mcdougle "coach puts a big emphasis on getting the ball out, in practice you've got to get at lest four or we're running and for the running, we can clean that up, we're gonna clean that up this week that won't be a problem."alyssa: obviously as a defense you're happy with the turnovers the cougs caused but they felt like they gave up too much in the ground game ....especially to an fcs opponent and they know their schedule only gets tougher from here no more thirty, fourty point spreads in the weeks ahead and they know especially against the houston cougars they'll present a challenge, everybody has to improve at this point but the cougs a little happy with another dominant vicotry in martin stadium.

For now reporting with the cougs in pullman, alyssa charlston, four
