Just because someone lives in a fancy neighborhood and has a high-paying job doesn't mean they have a lot in the bank.

According to Business Insider, a new survey from GOBankingRates shows people in North Dakota and Nebraska tie for squirrelling away the most.

That's where a quarter of residents surveyed said they had more than $10,000 in savings.

Other states that made the list include Michigan and Nevada, along with several traditionally expensive New England states.
