U.S. President Trump has cancelled his trip to Denmark, after the country's prime minister said the idea of selling Greenland was absurd.
Trump confirmed on Sunday (August 18) that he had recently discussed the idea of buying the world's largest island.
And while he promised on Twitter not to build a Trump tower on the Arctic Island, the proposal's been met with disbelief by some.
A former Danish prime minister said, "It must be an April Fool's Day joke." The current PM said, "Greenland is not for sale [...] I strongly hope that this is not meant seriously." The U.S. military has rights over an air base in the northern part of the autonomous territory.
Trump told reporters the purchase is a strategically interesting concept, but not an immediate priority.
On Tuesday (August 20), he said based on Denmark's refusal to discuss the sale, "I will be postponing our meeting scheduled in two weeks for another time."

This is an origami-inspired moon home. It is set to be tested later this year (2020). The Lunark is a compact habitat designed to fold down to a size that allows easy transportation. The idea is the brainchild of 2 Danish space architects who say they have "a dream of making outer space accessible for everyone.” Sebastian Aristotelis and Karl-Johan Sørensen are currently crowdfunding to carry out a 3-month simulated moon mission in the harsh climate of northern Greenland. They say: "Isolated and confined in one of the harshest climates on Earth, we will test our habitat.
