(SOUNDBITE) (English) NEW MANCHESTER UNITED SIGNING HARRY MAGUIRE SAYING: "It's a really proud moment for myself to join such a big club.

You always dream of walking out at Wembley and Old Trafford, they're the two big stadiums when you're a young kid.

"It's an amazing club, it's a club I've always watched, I've always looked up to when I was younger, and now I'm part of it.

The atmosphere in the stadium itself is just so unique, it's something so special.

"Experience is a big thing, you play a lot of games as a young boy and you learn, like I did in League One and moved up to the Championship, then went through the leagues, I felt like that really helped me.

"First and foremost, I see myself as a good defender, That's my main thing, I'm in to stop goals and keep a clean sheet.

"I'm really proud to be here, such a big club, and I'm really looking forward to getting started.

"I'm a team player, I'll give everything I can for the team and give everything I've got for this club." STORY: Manchester United have signed Leicester City's England centre back Harry Maguire on a six-year contract, the Manchester club announced on Monday (August 5).

"It's a really proud moment for myself to join such a big club," said Maguire in an official video released by United on Monday.

Financial details of the deal were not disclosed but British media reported the transfer fee was in the region of 80 million pounds ($97.30 million dollars), making Maguire the most expensive defender in the world.

The fee eclipses the 75 million pounds Liverpool paid Southampton for Virgil van Dijk in January last year.

"Manchester United is delighted to confirm the signing of Harry Maguire from Leicester City.

Harry signs on a six-year contract, with the option to extend for a further year," United said in a statement on their website https://www.manutd.com/en/news/detail/harry-maguire-confirmed-as-man-utd-third-summer-signing?t=y&utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=image_post&utm_campaign=muwebsite&utm_content=190805hmsigning.

The 26-year-old becomes the Old Trafford club's second most expensive recruit after French midfielder Paul Pogba, who was signed for a then world-record 89 million pounds from Juventus in 2016.

Maguire, who helped England reach the 2018 World Cup semi-finals, had signed a contract extension to 2023 with Leicester last year and played 31 times in the league last season, scoring three goals.

($1 = 0.8222 pounds)

Mikel Arteta feels Jamie Vardy should have been sent off before equaliser

Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta bemoaned the decision to send off Eddie Nketiah but not Jamie Vardy as the Leicester striker struck late to salvage a point at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners looked on course for a fourth straight Premier League win after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang opened the scoring and the home side then created a string of chances to kill off the game. Instead they had to settle for a 1-1 draw as Vardy scored with six minutes remaining, soon after Arsenal had been reduced to 10 men following the dismissal of Nketiah.

Willian might stay at Chelsea, who are also poised to sign Kai Havertz, according to the rumour mill. Willian could be set to stay at Chelsea afterall, with a breakthrough reached in contract negotiations, according to SkySports. Several clubs had been circling for the 31-year-old Brazilian, who wasrumoured to want to leave Stamford Bridge, including Arsenal, ManchesterUnited, Barcelona, and David Beckham’s Inter Miami. However, the winger istipped to sign a new contract with Chelsea this week, despite being offeredonly a two-year extension instead of his preferred three. Manchester Unitedare still poised to sign Jack Grealish from Aston Villa, although he has beenwarned he would not be a certain starter for the Red Devils every week, TheIndependent reports. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is still keen to sign Grealish evenif United complete the transfer of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund. Unitedare likely to have to up their ante from their initial £90m bid for Sancho, but will not meet Dortmund’s desired £110m, the Daily Mail says. The OldTrafford club will likely be also forced to go above their envisaged £50m tosign Grealish now that Villa will stay in the Premier League, but at leastChampions League qualification has given Solskjaer more spending power.
