'Hobbs and Shaw' Could Earn up to $65 Million in Opening Weekend The film, which stars Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Jason Statham, hits theaters August 2.

In the flick, they reprise their roles as Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw.

'Hobbs and Shaw' is the first spinoff from the 'Fast & Furious' franchise, which has generated billions worldwide.

According to 'Variety,' it could see competition at the box office when it reaches the big screen.

A week beforehand, Quentin Tarantino’s drama-thriller 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' reaches theaters on July 26.

In addition, Disney's remake of 'The Lion King' may still be going strong after its release on July 19.

But box office numbers could be helped by 'Hobbs and Shaw' releasing a little later on in China on August 23.
