New York Jury Reaches Verdict In Cult Trial

According to a report by Reuters, on Wednesday, jurors reached a verdict in the case of Keith Raniere, the New York man accused of running a cult-like group in which women were kept on starvation diets, branded with his initials, and forced to have sex.

The 58 year-old Raniere has been on trial in Brooklyn federal court for over six weeks on charges that include racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking and possession of child pornography.

If convicted, Raneiere reportedly faces a possible sentence of life in prison.

Reuters reports that John Marzulli, a spokesman for the prosecutor's office, said that the verdict of the case will be read at approximately 2:30 pm Eastern time.
