Tennis Player Nick Kyrgios Throws Chair and Storms Off Court at Italian Open
Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios was disqualified from the Italian Open in Rome on May 16 after throwing a chair onto the court.
Twitter user @andreopines shared footage of the incident, where Kyrgios is seen yelling obscenities before a penalty is called against him.
He then throws his racket and a chair onto the tennis court.
Additional footage shows Kyrgios collecting his bag and walking off the court.
His opponent, Casper Ruud, follows shortly after.
Ruud will move on to the third round facing Juan Martín del Potro.
The chair-hurling is not the only controversy Kyrgios has stirred up at the tournament.
Earlier in the week, Kyrgios made several remarks about fellow tennis stars, calling Novak Djokovic ‘cringeworthy’ and Rafael Nadal ‘super salty.’ Credit: @andreopines via Storyful
