China Has Sprouted a Plant on the Far Side of the Moon
To survive in space, we’re going to need a cosmic green thumb????and China’s Chang’e-4 lander is getting us one step closer to that????The lander became the first mission to touch down on the far side of the moon on Jan.
3 ????Now, cotton seeds onboard the probe have sprouted to life on the lunar surface!????It’s the first time biological matter has been grown on the moon????Full disclosure, they germinated the seed in an airtight canister????but it’s still a major step in long-term space exploration????The little biosphere contains air, soil and water????as well as yeast, fruit fly eggs, and seeds to hopefully grow rapeseed, potatoes and Arabidopsis????
