Ted Cruz Wants El Chapo to Pay for Border Wall

Senator Ted Cruz wants drug lord Joaquin Guzman, more commonly known as, El Chapo, to pay for the border wall.

El Chapo is currently on trial for allegedly running one of the largest drug-trafficking organizations in the world.????Cruz asked his supporters to become co-sponsors of a bill that will use the $14 billion dollars the US govt seized from El Chapo to pay for the border wall.??

????Cruz announced in a tweet that he would reintroduce the Ensuring Lawful Collection of Hidden Assets to Provide Order Act, or El CHAPO act.??

????This came amidst the partial government shutdown over funding for the wall.??

????Despite saying he would also back The WALL ACT, a bill that supports $25 billion dollars for the border wall, it appears Cruz is using the El Chapo Act to raise funds.??

????Newsweek reports that after Cruz’s supporters sign the petition, they are then led to a fundraising page to “ensure more conservative victories in the future.”??

????This is reportedly not the first time Cruz has used creative means to get campaign funds.??????According to Newsweek, Cruz sent donation requests to people in Texas in envelopes that were disguised as legal summonses.??
