Debbie debbie a new elementary school could be in the cards for the the district is looking into buying new land for the elementary school on the south east side..where there is potential for more growth.
Action news now reporter laura eng joins us with more 888reporter live888 a local developer recently approached the district about purchasing the doe mill honey run special planning area... it's a property just east of potter road and south of east pkg will be holding a meeting wednesday night... with many important elements on the agenda... there is some conversation about moving inspire school off of the chico in addition to this ... the last piece is related to a potential new piece of property for a new elementary school... developer, bill brouhard(brow- ard), recently approached the district about purchasing a portion of the valley edge development... located east of potter road and south of east 20th street.
Instead of just buying land for school, how can we combine a community park next to a school to create a recreational and educational environment.
And this is definitely in the future and we're just starting the conversation with a developer whose approached... the new property raises the question of the district's purchased canyon view property... which has still gone un-developed..
We had a pretty dramatic drop in enrollment, but decided to purchase canyon view... taxpayers passed measure a back in the early 90s to build a new comprehensive high school..
The decision was made not to build a new high school, but ultimately those dollars were spent at our current high roughly 35 million for an elementary school, 50 million for a high school... and it can take years to clear the property for use... we think by looking out in the future, we doing the right thing by looking 10 15 years down the line.
### 888reporter live888 hear more from the developer on his plans for this property... if you would like to attend the district's meeting tonight, it will be held at 5 p-m at the district office on east seventh street.
