Want to Know Some of Trump’s White House Secrets? This New Book Will (Allegedly) Fill You Inby 👨‍💻 Graham Pierrepoint

It doesn’t take a casual viewer of the news to know that Donald Trump’s US Presidency is one which has attracted considerable press over the past year, with the President’s use of social media, his political decisions and quite how he got into the White House in the first place all being offered up as fair play for the mass media. Trump, who is notoriously anti-media beyond the likes of a few hand-picked sources, has also had more than a fair few jibes thrown at him during his first year in office – and genuine curiosity as to what goes on behind those big white doors has inarguably fuelled journalist Michael Wolff’s new book – Fire and Fury – which allegedly reveals a number of telling moments from behind the scenes based upon chance encounters and conversations the author has experienced over the past year.

The White House has already decried Wolff’s account as being comprised of ‘false and misleading accounts’, though the author asserts that he has based the tome on over 200 different interviews – and his own personal experiences from inside the White House – during the run up to Trump’s 2017 inauguration. The revelations – which Wolff asserts are true, though Trump et al state are false – make for interesting reading in any case.

A list of striking quotes from the new book on Trump
Watch: A list of striking quotes from the new book on Trump (The Washington Post)

Such allegations made in the book include the fact that while Trump greatly admires media mogul Rupert Murdoch, the admiration is far from mutual, with the latter allegedly having referred to the President as an ‘idiot’ following a conversation on immigration. It’s also reported that Trump and his camp were hardly prepared for his presidential win – with The Donald having said to be looking like he had seen a ghost, and with wife Melania in tears (‘not of joy’). This is certainly a different account to that which we have been led to believe over the past twelve months.

Beyond this, Ivanka Trump is alleged to be eyeing up the Presidential suite herself, eyeing roles in the Oval Office for both herself and partner Jared Kushner beyond the power of those they have already been granted. On a lighter note, it is also alleged that Trump’s daughter has openly mocked her father’s comb-over – which, of course, has been alleged to be a hairpiece for considerable time (despite the President having proven otherwise).

The claims don’t stop there – but is there any truth behind them? Beyond reading Wolff’s book, we will simply have to wait and see if the White House takes any further action. For now, at least, the stories remain fascinating speculation.
