U.S. President Donald Trump’s alleged affair with porn actress Stormy Daniels has been another big story affecting the U.S. Presidency which has once again caught the media by storm (no pun intended). Daniels’ recent TV interview, along with claims that she and her daughter were threatened by representatives of Mr Trump should she fail to remain quiet about their alleged liaison dating back to 2006. Daniels, real name Stephanie Clifford, is one of two women who have claimed to have had consensual relations with Trump outside of his marriage to Melania – though several complaints surrounding sexual misconduct have come to light as well as – of course – the infamous tape which was leaked during the 2016 election campaign where the President appeared to approve the groping of women. This is a story which, alongside other stories about the Presidency, has snowballed ever onwards.
The latest twist in the tale comes from the President himself. Asked on camera about whether or not Trump knew about a $130,000 ‘hush money’ payment made to Daniels in order to quell discussion of their alleged affair, the President elected to answer ‘no’ – “You’ll have to ask Michael Cohen,” the President advised. “Michael is my attorney – you’ll have to ask Michael.” While there may be plenty one can take away from this recent turn of events, it seems that the Daniels side of the debate is feeling very optimistic indeed.

Daniels is being represented by Michael Avenatti – and the attorney has claimed on Twitter that Trump’s recent words caught on camera could well have strengthened their case against him. Tweeting, Avenatti stated: “Good (actually (GREAT) things come to those who wait!!! The strength of our case just went up exponentially. You can’t have an agreement when one party claims to know nothing about it. #nodiscipline #thanksforplaying #basta”.
Therefore, those in opposition to Trump on this case may have found a silver lining – though quite how everything will play out remains to be seen. It is another very public storm that Trump – in his continued fight against the majority of the mass media and what he has referred to as ‘fake news’ – and his team are juggling while running the country. There’s always something interesting going on – but quite where this case will lead is a whole other matter. We will, as always, keep you informed!
