Government boosts testing capacity to 35,000 a day but says 'not enough demand'

National capacity for coronavirus testing has topped 35,000 a day, but "lack of demand" meant fewer than 16,000 were actually conducted in the 24 hours to 9am on Wednesday, Downing Street has said.
