Beast From the East 3: Is Britain Set to Get Hit by Snow for a Third Time?

Beast From the East 3: Is Britain Set to Get Hit by Snow for a Third Time?by 👨‍💻 Graham Pierrepoint

While the UK is perhaps a little too famous for its all-too unpredictable (or should that be predictable?) weather, 2018 has already seen the British Isles hit twice by a flurry of snow which has been referred to as the ‘Beast From The East’ – as other European countries have felt the full tenacity of the cold snap, too. As motorways and certain schools and businesses were brought to a standstill by snowdrifts and snowstorms alike, social media users from countries such as Norway – where intense snowfall and temperatures lingering in the double-minus figures are part of daily life – were quick to poke fun at just how quick the British appear to be at shutting everything down once a few snowflakes hit! In all fairness, however, it’s not every day that the UK plays host to such snowy conditions – and while many British people – the writer of this article included – were under the impression that the last of the late snow was on its way out, certain weather forecasts are predicting a third run for the Beast From the East.

This could mean that the UK is plunged back into snowy chaos as of the long Easter weekend – marking a rare ‘White Easter’ as many families and businesses are only just adjusting back to milder temperatures. With British Summer Time just around the corner – where clocks are put forward by one hour overnight – spring is supposedly due to hit the continent at any time – but the so-called Beast seems ready to go the full three rounds if certain weather predictions are to be believed. It’s thought that bitter winds from the Arctic could mean that northern areas of Britain face another flurry of snow before the month is out – meaning that Brits may have to wait until April to get a bit of clement weather. Don’t hold your breath for too long, however – as the term ‘April Showers’ doesn’t exist without a reason – meaning the UK may well be plunged into that familiar – yet warmer – drizzle.

It’s not often that One News Page goes in depth in terms of weather – but Britain has been particularly unlucky in recent weeks with its lion’s share of the snow – surely the Beast From the East will bow out after the third round? Keep your eye on those forecasts!
