The Apple Event in Brief: Was It a Success?

The Apple Event in Brief: Was It a Success?by 👨‍💻 Adam Yardley

This year’s colossal invite-only Apple event has been and gone already, which means fans of the iPhone line were of course treated to a sneak peek of what’s come in the following months with regard to the latest iteration of smartphone. The major story from the event is that the iPhone XS, the iPhone XR and the iPhone XS Max are heading to stores near you – and the XS line in particular far outstrips the previous X model as a new premium standard for the handset.

The XS is reportedly the most advanced smartphone ever to have been devised and, as such, it’s available in both standard and Max sizes. Both have improved camera lenses, a new bionic chip system and even full waterproofing. Perhaps the days of water damage done to phones are finally over – though this has been a major selling point for gadget fans in the East for some time now. The launch showed off some of the impressive new things that the devices can potentially do – as it seems that a full focus on upping performance has been in play this time around. To be able to get your hands on an XS model, you’re going to need to shell out at least $999 – with the Max available at $1099, the most expensive iPhone ever produced. Given the relatively steady performance of the X – which perhaps didn’t have the ‘wow’ factor everyone had hoped for – is upping the price necessarily a prudent idea? Time will tell.

On the other end of the scale is the iPhone XR, which is optioned as a colorful and more affordable option for iPhone fans. It may not have all the features and the performance stats that its sister models boast, but it’s clear that Apple wanted to roll out its upgraded systems across all bases this year. Alongside the XR, a new iteration of Apple Watch has emerged – with a sleeker design and a greater focus on allowing users to monitor and improve their health.

First Impressions After Going Hands-on With New Apple Products

All in all – was this Apple launch a success? As always, there are fans of what’s been on display. There’s no doubt that this latest line of iPhone standards are at the peak of the game – but will enough people be willing to spend most of their month’s wage on a slightly speedier device? More positive praise has been lined up for the Watch 4 – which appears to be revolutionizing wearable tech for the better. Let’s see how these devices perform over the next year.
