Thursday 4 March, 2021With many of us still feeling the pinch post-Christmas and as a result of the recent lockdown here in the UK, more of us than ever are looking for ways in which we can save money. More of us these days choose to shop online, and one of the easiest ways to save money when you do this is to shop through voucher code websites. While there are numerous sites out there with deals and discounts, it's rare that you'll find one that gives something back. However, that's where sites like Discount Promo Codes come in. A small, independent voucher code site based in Bath, not only does the company host thousands of discounts from popular UK retailers, but every month, they donate 20% of their profits to charity.

Discount Promo Codes host a monthly poll on their site where three charities compete for votes in a friendly competition through social media and on-site promotion. Visitors to the site are able to cast a vote for their chosen charity, and at the end of the month, the charity with the most votes wins the donation. As a result of their charity poll, Discount Promo Codes have raised over £60,000 for different charities since their launch in 2012, donating to a range of causes from animal welfare to mental health.

It's through consumers shopping through the website that Discount Promo Codes are able to make a charity donation every month. Each time that a user makes a purchase through the site, retailers such as Boots, Amazon, Argos and Sainsbury's pay a small commission. This is all at no extra cost to the user, and every single purchase goes towards the charity donation. The more purchases made, the bigger the donation.

Their poll features a brand new line-up each month, and this March, you can have your say in which of the three featured charities win the donation. All you need to do is head over to their homepage, where you can choose your winning charity in just a few clicks. The March Charity Poll Line-UpFirst in the line-up is The Cotswolds Dogs and Cats Home (CDCH). As Gloucestershire's leading animal rescue charity, they care for hundreds of sick, abused and neglected animals every year. Run by Cotswolds, Gloucester and District RSPCA, the charity ensures that the animals in their care are made safe and given the love, attention, and any appropriate veterinary treatment they need. They have cats, dogs and small furry animals such as rabbits and guinea pigs in their care, and they work to match the animals with new families to find their forever homes. Alongside their rehoming centre, CDCH run twice-weekly low cost veterinary clinics in Stroud for those receiving means tested benefits, ensuring that no animals suffer due to the costs of treatment. While CDCH are affiliated with the RSPCA, they are in fact an independent charity that has to rely on donations and fundraising to keep their centres running. Any funds raised within the community stay directly with the charity, ensuring the most vulnerable animals in Gloucestershire are supported.

Second in the line-up, is The Down’s Syndrome Association (DSA). The charity is the largest Down's syndrome interest membership organisation in the UK, supporting individuals with the condition and their families. They provide information, advocacy and support to anyone who has an interest in Down's syndrome and have done so for over 50 years. In addition to providing information on all aspects of the condition, the DSA runs a number of projects to support people with Down's syndrome in leading full, rewarding lives. This includes their DSActive project, which provides sport and exercise opportunities for people with the condition; and their WorkFit project, which brings employers and jobseekers together, training employers on how to support workers with Down's syndrome and providing employment opportunities for individuals with the condition.

The third and final charity in the March line-up is Youth Action Wiltshire, the youth based arm of Wiltshire based charity Community First. Through a number of different projects, Youth Action Wiltshire supports thousands of young people in the community, including young carers, and those not in education, employment or training. Their projects range from activity programmes and one-to-one support for young people who face challenges in their lives, to providing volunteering opportunities and supporting Wiltshire's youth clubs. As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, many young people facing challenges found their circumstances made even more difficult for a number of reasons, such as anxiety, isolation and and a strain on relationships at home. Ultimately, this has meant Youth Action Wiltshire have experienced increased demand in their services, however due to the cancellation of fundraising events and opportunities, the charity's income has been significantly affected.Nominate a Charity For a Future PollDiscount Promo Codes welcomes new charity partners to their poll, so if you would like to nominate your favourite organisation you can do so via our website, or by emailing Charities Coordinator, Amy Jackson at amy@mfvc.co.uk.
