To support the ongoing costs, he has launched a charitable crowdfunding initiative, designed exclusively to help purchase more vital supplies.The 'We Got You' crowdfunding campaign is seeking to raise both funds and awareness of the critical national shortage of PPE in the NHS, due to the rapid onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, which is currently sweeping the globe.Whilst the government are desperately seeking to help meet the demand for more PPE, the shortages are leaving NHS staff in unsafe situations, caring for patients without the correct PPE and thereby increasing the potential risk of contracting COVID-19 themselves. Across the UK the picture is replicated, with protective masks and disposable clothing being in very short supply.'We Got You' founder, and the brain behind the concept, Khalid Khames commented: “In a time of global crisis, it's now more important than ever to ensure we support our frontline medical staff as they work tirelessly to care for others. The crisis is made worse by the fact that the UK is experiencing a huge shortage of PPE, which undermines what our doctors and nurses can do safely.”Khalid continued: “As a small business owner, I use a respirator to protect myself daily. Recently a friend who works as a surgeon and consultant asked me for a spare I had, explaining that there weren't any available from the NHS. The realisation of what we expect our NHS staff to do really struck home and I knew I needed to do everything I could to help. That's when the idea of 'We Got You' was born.”“I decided to use all of my business’s cash to bulk buy as much PPE as possible, including respirators, surgical masks, safety glasses disposable aprons and gloves.
