The family of Damien Bendelow, who died on Sunday 26 January following a serious assault, have released the following statement:

“We are all as a family absolutely devastated Damien was murdered. He has been taken away from us. Twenty years of love and life gone in twenty seconds. He was such a lovable cheeky chap and loved by everyone and the community it has left a massive hole in our hearts and all we can hope for now is getting justice for Damien. Sleep tight pidge rest in peace love Dad, Mum, Grace, Richard and all the siblings”

Carl Smythe, aged 45, of Varley Lane, Liskeard, was charged with the murder of 20-year-old Damien Bendelow.

Smythe was also charged with four counts of common assault. He appeared at Truro Magistrates’ Court on 28^th January and was remanded in police custody to appear before Truro Crown Court on February 20^th.
