UK parliament suspension not a matter for judges, PM Johnson's lawyer tells Supreme Court

Boris Johnson's decision to suspend parliament is a political issue and not a matter for judges, a lawyer for the prime minister said on Wednesday as he sought to persuade the British Supreme Court that the five-week shutdown was lawful.

He said, "Since Supreme Court has listened to lengthy arguments in the matter, I want that it should comment that the case has rightly gone to CBI. The Court should give directions that Mumbai Police should help CBI in the investigation. We have already stated in the written submission that Patna Police has the jurisdiction. The taking over the case by the CBI is accordance of the law. Let's hope. We are expecting the judgment to come very soon."

He was among the people on the stage at the ceremony in Ayodhya on August 5. Other VIPs included CM Adityanath, UP Governor Anandiben Patel and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat. PM Modi had participated in bhoomi pujan and laid the foundation stone of Ram Temple. The construction of Ram Temple, which is being overseen by Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra Trust, has begun nine months after the Supreme Court verdict.
