Two ticket touts who made more than £9 million from re-selling have been handed jail sentences.

The landmark case focussed on ticket re-selling, and brought Peter Hunter and his civil partner David Smith to court.

The pair ran various companies, making more than £9 million from tickets purchases for Adele shows, X Factor Live, and many more.

The clampdown was led by National Trading Standards, and followed a *high profile intervention from Ed Sheeran.*

His manager Stuart Camp appeared in person at Leeds Crown Court, explaining he had noted £75 seats for a charity gig on sale for £7,000.

Peter Hunter and David Smith used various identities and computer bots to complete their purchases, subsequently breaching the terms and conditions of primary sellers like Ticketmaster.

Labelled “dishonest fraudsters motivated by greed”, Peter Hunter now faces four years in prison, with David Smith being handed a 30 month custodial sentence.
