Are Michael Bay and Ryan Reynolds Secretly Working on a Movie Remake of This Classic 80s Cartoon?by 👨‍💻 Graham Pierrepoint

In this day and age, it’s getting harder and harder for movies to stay a secret during production. From the threat of leakers to the fact that just about everyone is connected to everyone else at any one time, it’s rare nowadays that a movie project can stay buried or hidden from public view for even a relatively short period of time. Movies such as The Cloverfield Paradox managed to pull off the impossible by staying hidden and getting released without fanfare – and while this is a fantastic feat, it’s been a long time since we’ve seen any other films in recent history escape the gaze of the media during production.

However, one movie going by the name of Six Underground may have gotten close to pulling off a true Cloverfield Paradox – if filming rumors are to be believed, the Netflix project could be set to revive an iconic animated series from the 1980s in the very near future. Michael Bay is involved in the direction of the movie and it’s set to be headed by the likes of Ryan Reynolds and Dave Franco – and if rumors have any weight at all, they could all be starting to get to work on a Thundercats movie.

Thundercats is one of many beloved, if now slightly cheesy cartoons from the 80s which have been mooted for a movie upgrade for decades now – it’s already set to be revived on network TV through a dramatic redesign – and if the leaks are to be believed, it will mean that the original plot for the supposed ‘Six Underground’ was in fact a cover for an adaptation of Lion-O and co set for home streaming.

Reports are emanating from IGN Middle East, who advise that very close sources are confident that the Thundercats movie is very real indeed – but why the secrecy? Other details about Six Underground remain scarce – at a budget of a reported $150 million, all we know is that it is supposedly a film set around the exploits of six billionaires who have faked their deaths and to form a legion of heroes. Therefore, it will be interesting to see what pops up in the months to come. Will people be disappointed if it turns out Six Underground is in fact legitimate? Is the world ready for a live-action take on Thundercats? Stay tuned…
