Nine months after the formation of the federal government the counting of votes in six states of Malaysia is underway.
570 candidates from nine parties are competing for 245 State Assembly seats.
Currently, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's multi-ethnic Alliance holds power in three of these six states.
