VP Kamala Harris in Jacksonville for a speech about the state’s new standards on African-American history.

It comes after a coalition of groups, including Black rights advocates and Florida’s teacher union, said the new standards "purposefully omit or rewrite key historical facts about the Black experience” in America.

The group cites examples in the state's summary which include instruction on "how slaves developed skills which, in some instances, could be applied for their personal benefit.”
