I Was Wrong About Zion Williamson
I Was Wrong About Zion Williamson

We Were Wrong About Zion Williamson.

I want to issue an apology to Zion Williamson because a year ago I was one of the few in the media that called him a bust.

This was due to two main reasons the first was the constant comparison of Zion Williamson.

As you all know Zion Williamson was drafted in 2019 as the number one overall pick by the Pelicans and in that same draft, Ja Morant was taken as the second overall pick by the Grizzlies.

Now since then Ja Morant has had the better career so far, managing to stay healthy, and has actually played more seasons than Zion since being drafted in the same year, and that brings me to the second reason behind calling Zion Williamson a bust, Injuries.

Zion has had a lengthy injury history, one that does not predict a long and productive career.

Going all the way back to his days at Duke university Zion Has had bouts with injuries, he famously tore through his Nike shoes during a game between the Blue Devils and the Tarheels in college before getting drafted in 2019.

Then fast forward to after he was drafted, he missed preseason due to injuries.

Then again fast forward to August 2020 when he missed the last game of the regular season again due to injuries.

After that we fast forward to April of 2021 when he missed a hand full of games due to a sprained thumb, that one wasn't that serious but the following year he missed the entirety of the NBA season due to injuries mainly his torn meniscus he had a year prior wasn't fully healed.

And there is a reason why Zion Williamson is always hurt, its because of the same thing that allows him to be so dominant and that is his freakishly huge body, He is 6'7 and weighs 270 pounds, which is a lot of weight to move around and it is a lot to throw around as he does.

Not to say that Zion Williamson is only good because of his hulking body, no Zion possesses all of the attributes that constitute a good basketball player he is a great passer, has good basketball IQ, and is overall a stellar basketball player.

But 99% of all players that have played basketball against Zion Williamson have been smaller than him.

And so because of his size Zion Has suffered from injuries due to the amount of torque that his weight and playing style puts on his knees.

In the past, he has failed to reach an optimal playing weight but he fixed that last summer he slimmed down while still managing to keep his muscle mass and because of that he has managed to stay healthy and has been really good this year to the point where he has been named an All-star starter and has contributed to his team being the 4th team in the western conference.

Because of that I want to retract what I said About him Last year he is not a bust.
