FUNERAL PROCESSION INTERRUPTED BY CRASH, SODA TEXAS, 09/13/22...

Funeral Procession Interrupted by Crash, SODA, September 13, 2022 - At approximately 1 pm on September 13, 2022, a funeral procession (from Cochran Funeral Home) was east-bound on US-190 East near Stutts Hill Road.

A white 2008 Ford Escape, driven by Anthony Gregory, 29, of Alto, was west-bound and allegedly topped a hill going to fast.

Gregory nearly rear ended a car in front of him and avoided that collision by cutting left into the east-bound lane of traffic.

Gregory lost control and went into a slide.

He slid sideways into one of the funeral procession cars, a maroon 2011 Honda Accord, driven by Nathan Beavers, 19, of Livingston.

Gregory's vehicle impacted (passenger's side) the front end of Beavers' vehicle.

Both vehicles came to rest on the right side of 190 on the east-bound side.

Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Troopers Donny Akers, Johnny Wilkerson, and Cotye Lowrie with the Texas Highway Patrol.

Gregory was transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

There were no other injuries.

Gregory is facing a citation for failure to control speed.

Beavers' vehicle was recovered by Ken's Towing and will be stored at Harrison Body Shop in Livingston.

Gregory's vehicle was recovered by Kwik Tow out of Livingston.
